>>>Our stock of bikes is changing all the time, so the only way to know what we have is to drop in!!!<<< Here's an idea of what you can get for your money: |
This is the cheapest, most basic bike we sell. It takes a special kind of bike to be a $100 bike! You'll be getting a solid steel frame, steel wheels, side-pull brakes, and it's not going to look too great. That said, every bike we sell has been fully tuned and test riden by a professional mechanic, and has a 90 day warranty. Just don't expect it to ride like a $500 bike! |
By spending a bit more than $100, you will get a couple of upgrades, most likely aluminium rims, which reduce the weight of the bike considerably. Also you may see one or more of the following: better brakes, stronger parts, a lighter frame, or basic suspension fork. You will also find 60's and 70's style crusiers in this category.
We often convert cheaper frames into single-speed by stripping all the non-essential parts and replacing the rear wheel with a NEW coaster (back pedal brake) wheel. This is the simplest bike you can get it requires hardly any maintence, as there is so little that can go wrong!

When you spend between $200 and $300 dollars you can expect a better, name brand frame, usually nice Cro-Moly, and in better cosmetic condition. Shifters, derailleurs, hubs, rims, and brakes are a step up from basic parts. You will also probably see some new parts, likely the chain, freewheel, brake pads, seat, seatpost, etc. You may also see a basic suspension fork.

With a $300-$500 bike you are getting into a more serious riding machine. The frame is of a good brand name, newer, and in good cosmetic shape. Parts are mid-range and will last longer between tune ups and replacement. The bike can handle a lot more punishment and will respond to the increased expectations of more demanding riders. You will start to see Aluminum frames, basic disc brakes, and more new parts. |
If you are serious about your bikes, the only limits are your imagination! You can get a great deal on an awesome bike, as we try to price our bikes at about 60% of new retail. All our high-end bikes have new cables, and if anything needs replacing, we will do it. Custom jobs are also possible. We see lots of high-end bikes in our store, so pop in and check out what we have! We have Road, Dirt Jump, Freeride, Dual Suspesion, Cross Country... You name it! |
We are THE SHOP in Halifax for fixed gear conversions! A lot of these are custom builds, but we usually have one or two ready on the floor at all times. Most of the cost of a basic fixed gear bike is the wheel set, so you can expect to pay about $400-$500 for a decent complete bike. Our track wheels are hand-built from Formula hubs, Alex DA22 double wall rims, and DT Swiss spokes. |
We sometimes get used BMX bikes. Depending on the quality, you can pay anywhere from $75(really old and basic) to $400 (newer and fancy). |
